Tribal Gaming Featured At Florida Gaming Summit

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (September 10, 2008) – Native Americans have played a vital role in the development of gaming in Florida, and the topic of tribal gaming will be discussed in detail at the 4th annual Florida Gaming Summit, to be held October 6-7 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino here. Hundreds of attendees are expected to attend this popular event, including gaming operators, regulators, investors, tribal gaming leaders, attorneys, architects, vendors and other industry-related professionals.

“The November 2007 compact between the Seminole Tribe of Florida and the State seemed to be the start of a new era of gaming in Florida, but legal challenges could change everything,” said Charles Anderer, Senior Events Manager, Gaming, for BNP Media, co-producer of the conference along with Spectrum Gaming Group. “The Summit will feature a star-studded panel that will address the compact and a host of other issues relevant to the state’s tribal gaming industry.”

The panel will be led by moderator Steven Paul McSloy, Co-Chair of the Native American Practice of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP, and includes Judith A. Shapiro, a noted attorney in the area of tribal gaming law, Jim Shore, General Counsel for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and George Skibine, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary - Indian Affairs, Policy and Economic Development, for the U.S. Department of the Interior.

In all, some two dozen expert speakers are confirmed for the Summit, and they will address additional topics such as the performance and potential of parimutuel casinos, the legislative outlook for gaming, the view from Wall Street, gaming and leisure trends and responsible gaming. Keynote speakers include James F. Allen, Chief Executive Officer, Gaming Operations, for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and Steven A. Geller, a prominent Florida State Senator.

Complete conference details, including registration and travel information, are available at www.floridagamingsummit.com.
