HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (October 10, 2006) With racetrack gaming set to
begin next month and the arrival of a new governor in January, the
2nd Florida Gaming Summit will analyze the political outlook for
gaming expansion in the Sunshine State.
The Florida Gaming Summit, which takes place Oct. 16-17 at the
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino here, has attracted expert
speakers to address such issues as state compacts with Indian
casinos, deregulation, and allowing slot machines at parimutuel
facilities beyond Broward County. Prominent gaming attorney Alan
Koslow will moderate a panel discussion that includes:
State Sen. Steve Geller
State Rep. Ron Greenstein
Izzy Havenick, Director of Public Affairs, Flagler Dog Track
Mac Seelig, President and CEO, A.C. Coin & Slot
Allan Solomon, Executive Vice President and General Counsel,
Isle of Capri Casino Corp.
The arrival of a somewhat more gaming-friendly governor in
January whether Democrat Jim Davis or Republican Charlie Crist
and a new legislature could signal profound changes for Florida
casinos and parimutuel facilities. The Florida Gaming Summit will
examine how the changes in Tallahassee will impact gaming, said
Joseph Weinert, Vice President of Spectrum Gaming Group, conference
co-producer.
The Florida Gaming Summit, which has attracted hundreds of
registrants, also includes a panel discussion with every Broward
County racetrack operator, an Indian gaming update, a special gaming
and tourism presentation, and an overview of gaming in the South and
Caribbean. The conference kicks off with an Oct. 16 reception.
Keynote speeches will be delivered by James F. Allen, CEO of
Seminole Gaming; Bernard Goldstein, Chairman and CEO of Isle of
Capri Casinos Inc., and Mara Giulianti, Mayor of Hollywood.
