James Allen, Virginia McDowell to Keynote Fifth Annual Florida Gaming Summit, October 19-20
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (September 15, 2009) – James F. Allen and Virginia McDowell, two of the most influential names in Florida gaming, will keynote the fifth annual Florida Gaming Summit, which takes place October 19-20 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino here.
Allen, CEO of Gaming Operations for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, has built the Seminole gaming enterprise into one of the world’s most profitable and respected casino companies. Among other duties, Allen oversees the Seminoles’ seven casinos in Florida, including the flagship Seminole Hard Rock gaming resorts in Hollywood and Tampa. He has been instrumental in the tribe’s ongoing compact negotiations with the State of Florida.
McDowell, President and Chief Operating Officer of Isle of Capri Casinos, is the only female president among the top 10 publicly traded gaming companies. McDowell joined Isle of Capri more than two years ago after holding senior executive positions with Trump Entertainment Resorts and Argosy Gaming. She oversees the company’s 15 casinos, including The Isle Casino and Racing at Pompano Park in South Florida.
More than 250 gaming operators, vendors, regulators, attorneys, investors and other gaming-related professionals are expected to attend the Florida Gaming Summit. The conference kicks off with a networking reception on October 19, followed by an intensive daylong conference the next day. Some two dozen expert speakers will examine critical issues such as the Seminole gaming compact, the outlook for racinos, politics and law, the view from Wall Street and a review of table games and poker operations.
